presenta una instalación de grandes dimensiones, un dibujo en
carboncillo y acuarela sobre papel de Cleopatra VII vestida de
la diosa Isis, madre de todos los dioses. Una imagen construida
a partir de diferentes representaciones que se han hecho de
la última faraona egipcia en el teatro y el cine. Este personaje
histórico, pero a la vez mítico, divino y de ficción, ha pasado por
una infinidad de rostros, pero en realidad nunca hemos sabido
cómo era realmente.
La escala monumental de la figura -elemento visual utilizado en el Arte del Antiguo Egipto como herramienta de estatus y poder- convierte a los espectadores en diminutos personajes que buscan la mirada ausente del mediático rostro, invitándonos a pensar: ¿Quién podría poner el suyo? ¿Quién alcanza lo inalcanzable?

At the back of the room, inside the apse of the museum's chapel, stands a huge installation, a charcoal drawing and watercolour on paper of Cleopatra VII dressed as the goddess Isis, mother of all gods. An image constructed from different representations of the last Egyptian pharaoh in theatre and cinema. This historical, mythical, divine and fictional character, has gone through innumerable faces, but we've never known what she really looked like.
The monumental scale of the figure -a visual element used in Ancient Egyptian Art as an instrument of status and power- transforms viewers into tiny characters who look the absent gaze of the mediatic face, inviting us to think: Who could put their own face on? Who reaches for the unreachable?

“Quiosco es un lugar donde se compran dulces, coyacs, cigarros, chocolates, diarios, puzzles, helados y flores, todos tapizan una construcción que parece un pequeño pabellón de techo de dos aguas. Es curiosa su aparición y etimología, viene del turco, el persa y el francés, todos coinciden que es un punto estratégico para concentrar la atención: desde pérgolas y miradores, hasta lugares para la música y la venta de productos. Esta pequeña construcción nos salva de situaciones de compras urgentes, de tincadas y necesidades que nos inventamos, su diversidad y colorido es un magneto para los ojos de los transeúntes.
Kiosko es el título de la exhibición, en ella cambiamos la forma correcta de escribirlo para darle una forma novedosa: confluyen siete propuestas que tienen que ver con el mercado, el espectáculo, el poder y los residuos que provocan estas prácticas, como un quiosco reúne imágenes de divinidades, boletas, paquetes, puzzles, poemarios de papel roneo, acumulaciones de dulces, competencias entre las mercancías para ver quién fue comprada y quién no, la identidad local en sus productos baratos y la sobrevivencia del papel, el helado de paleta, la sonrisa o pesadez de quién atiende.
Paula Martínez recrea a Cleopatra, uno de los grandes personajes de la cultura popular, alguien que todos reconocemos, pero que al mismo tiempo no sabemos quién era. Ha sido tan representada que en su repetición más se hunde la identidad de una persona que ahora aparece dibujada a mano en gran formato transformándose en una antigua diosa sin rostro.”

"Quiosco is a place where you can buy sweets, coyacs, cigars, chocolates, newspapers, puzzles, ice-cream and flowers, all in a building which looks like a small pavilion with a gabled roof. Its appearance and etymology are curious, coming from Turkish, Persian and French, but all agree that it’s a strategic point to attract attention: from pergolas and gazebos to places for music and the sale of products. This small structure saves us from urgent shopping situations, from "tincadas" and needs that we invent for ourselves, its variety and colourfulness is a magnet for the eyes of passers-by.
